Double Bassist Anders Dahlberg performs as Assistant Principal in the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and plays as a regular supplemental musician in the Grand Rapids Symphony and in the Pine Mountain Music Festival during the summer. Born in State College, Pennsylvania, Anders actually grew up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He eventually went to the Oberlin College Conservatory and Cleveland Institute of Music, where he received his Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees studying with Principal Bass of the Cleveland Orchestra, Lawrence Angell.
While in Kalamazoo, MI., he attended Western Michigan University and has added arts management to his resume and is currently the Artistic Director of the Western Michigan University School of Music’s Bullock Performance Institute (BPI). BPI presents multiple concerts and educational residencies throughout the academic year in three diverse series. These include the Young Concert Artists Series, Dalton Special Artists Series, and the Faculty Artist Showcase Series. Anders also worked towards his Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Michigan State University with Jack Budrow. Most recently Anders was elected Secretary Treasurer of the Kalamazoo Federation of Musicians, AFM local 228.
