Frank Maida's early musical experiences include service in the Marine Corps during World War II, when he was stationed at the Ford Island Navel Base in Pearl Harbor. At this time, in addition to his military duties, he was assigned to special services to play guitar in a large service dance band.

Since coming to Kalamazoo many years ago, Frank has continuously and very successfully led his own dance band. In addition, he has been very helpful to many other musicians and bands in the local, providing a great deal of work for them. Mr. Maida has served as a board member for the local for over twenty years and also serves as the local's Music Performance Fund Administrator.
